It is getting more crucial to give a thorough view on decision making of individual investors on Ha Noi stock exchange (HNX), in which investors are prudent, risk-averse and prefer stability. Hence, comprehending factors influencing decision making is fundamental to investment decisions of individual investors. The purpose of the study is to find out factors affecting investment decision-making and performance on HNX at the moment. Moreover, this study also gives suggestions to improve investors’ decision based on these factors to have better performance. From this research, investors can have a general idea and decide to make decision more correctly. Investors who were randomly selected from the survey as a whole are all individual investors who invested in the HNX securities market, investors participating this survey are Vietnamese and foreigners. The total number of questionnaires was 390. All questionnaires were surveyed directly through Google docs. The results of the study show that, within the scope of this paper, all 5 factors (accounting information, securities company, investor, market monitoring and securities) influence the investment decisions of individual investors. Among these factors, the most influential factors are accounting information and securities company. There is considerable difference in the level of influence of factors on the individual investor's investment decision in terms of demographic factors, such as: gender, age, educational background, and time participating. However, as for the factor “the amount of investment”, there is no difference in the level of influence.
