Abstract


Soft Skills have long been a hot topic that attracted not only the attention of scholars and researchers but also the interest of national and international business leaders at home and abroad. Soft skills give employees more incentives and opportunities to develop their professional skills. Therefore, the study of soft skills for human resources in 3-star hotels in particular and hotels, in general, is essential in business services today. The purpose of this study is to identify the soft skills of the staffs and managers of three-star hotels in Thanh Hoa City, Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam. From that, the soft skills needed in the operations of the staffs, heads of departments and managers are recognized, thereby helping 3-star hotels in Thanh Hoa City, Thanh Hoa province build a team of personnel who are qualified, enthusiastic and loyal to the business of accommodation, business services. Results of the research have found out that there are 07 soft skills needed for the staff members and 05 soft skills required for general management. The results from this study will help three-star hotels in particular in Thanh Hoa Province - Vietnam and, more broadly, 1-to-5-star hotels to build soft skills model in work which can be used for the necessary activities. It can retain, recruit the best-qualified employees and managers, manage the employee development process to the best possible results for the company as well as the development of the business development system in hotel business.
